Have you ever dreamed of owning a piece of the moon? Well, thanks to Dennis

Hope, you can! Hope is an American entrepreneur who has been selling plots on the moon since 1980. He claims to own the moon based on a loophole in the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which prohibits countries from claiming ownership of celestial bodies but does not mention individuals.

Hope has sold over 600 million acres of land on the moon for around $20 per acre. He allocates land to his customers by closing his eyes and randomly pointing to a map of the moon. He claims that he has several famous customers, including two former US presidents.

I know what you’re thinking: “This guy must be nuts!” And you’re not wrong. He is a bit of a character. But he’s also a shrewd businessman. He’s found a way to exploit a loophole in the law and make money off of people’s dreams.

So, what’s the catch? Well, for one thing, Hope’s claims to ownership of the moon are not recognized by any government or international organization. The Outer Space Treaty is still in effect, and it prohibits any country or individual from claiming ownership of celestial bodies.

Additionally, even if Hope did legally own the moon, it’s not clear how you would actually claim your land or what you could do with it. After all, there’s no current way to travel to the moon or live there for extended periods of time.

But despite all of these challenges, Dennis Hope’s Lunar Embassy has continued to sell land on the moon for over 40 years. And who knows? Maybe one day, owning a piece of the moon will actually be worth something.

Don’t forget to give me a follow on medium, it helps me keep going ❤️

Is it worth buying land on the moon?

That’s up to you to decide. If you’re interested in the novelty of owning a piece of another celestial body, then it might be worth the $20. But if you’re hoping to actually live or work on the moon someday, then you’re probably out of luck.

Personally, I think it’s a fun and quirky idea to own a piece of the moon. It’s a unique conversation starter, and it’s something that you can pass down to your children and grandchildren. Plus, it’s only $20!

So, if you’re looking for a unique and affordable gift, or if you just want to own a piece of history, then consider buying a plot of land on the moon from Dennis Hope’s Lunar Embassy.

And who knows? Maybe one day, you’ll be able to build your dream home on the moon.
