If something is free, then You are the product: The 40th law of Power.

“Never accept things that people give to you for free. People will think they have power over you if you do.”
In the world of power, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. If someone offers you something for free, it’s likely that they have an ulterior motive. They may be trying to make you feel indebted to them, or they may be trying to get something from you in return.
Of course, there are some cases where it’s perfectly acceptable to accept a free gift.
Don’t forget to give me a follow on medium, it helps me keep going ❤️
For example, if a friend offers you a meal, there’s no reason to refuse. But in general, it’s best to be wary of any offers that seem too good to be true.
The 40th Law of Power is all about protecting your power and independence. By refusing free lunches, you can make it clear that you are not to be trifled with. You’re not someone who can be easily manipulated or taken advantage of.
Of course, there are some people who will see your refusal of a free lunch as a sign of arrogance or insecurity. But those people are not worth worrying about. They’re the ones who are trying to use you, and you’re better off without them.
So next time someone offers you something for free, take a step back and think about it. Is there a hidden motive? What are they really trying to get from you? If you’re not sure, it’s best to err on the side of caution and refuse.
